Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that
also promotes healing. It is a very deeply powerful yet gentle "hands on" technique that applies to the body's meridian system (the body's system for energy transportation); the chakra system (energy stations of the body); and the auric field (protection system of the body).
Reiki heals by flowing through these affected parts of the energy field and charges them with positive energy. Reiki also raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where there are blockages. This causes the negative energy to break up and fall away. As a result, Reiki clears and heals the energy field, allowing the life force to flow in a natural healthy way.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei,
which means "God's Wisdom" or "the Higher Power", and Ki,
which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided
life force energy", and can never do harm. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create the effect that is appropriate for them.
Reiki is a specific method of body energy work. It has
been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and
always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with
all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and
promote recovery Reiki Sessions are Excellent for Anyone or Anything! Any person, or anything (adults, babies, animals, plants) can benefit from Reiki. It is very healthy and will automatically adjust to each individual's needs. Reiki can never be too strong.
What Does Reiki Do? Reiki can positively affect all forms of illness and conditions. Medical treatment side effects have also been lessened or eliminated. Clients have said they feel more relaxed, balanced, emotionally stable, less stressed, more aware, more able to fall asleep quickly, more physically loose or flexible, and less pain, or no pain at all.
What to Expect During a Session. The complete session will last usually between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the client's needs. The fully-clothed client lies on the table or, if preferred, treatment can also be given while the client is seated or standing. The practitioner places his or her hands slightly above or gently on the body in several positions from head to toe. I prefer to use a more intuitive approach based on the needs of my client. Private areas are worked on a few inches above the body. The positions are held for as long as how much Reiki the client needs.
What to Expect Following a Session. Most people come away with a feeling of deep, peaceful relaxation. Directly after a session, you should allow yourself time to come fully back into your awareness and it is highly recommended that you sit for a few minutes and sip from a glass of water.
